What Started out as Simple Child's play Became so much more
When Mellisa Ann was just a small child she used to believe in fairies. She really believed with all her mind, heart, and spirit they were very real. Nobody could ever convince her other wise. She would run out in her Grandparents yard, right after it had been mowed and all the tiny little fairies would fly in large groups all around her. As she ran through the yards. They were her only friends at times, being a very sheltered child and with mostly adults around. Her little brother always with her Grandpa it seemed now. So, her little fairies were her only and best friends. Her Mother called them her imaginary friends, since they weren't real. This made Mellisa Ann so mad with her Mother every time! Can't you see them, they run and play with me all the time! They would try calmly to explain to Mellisa Ann just what her fairies really were, she just got more mad, upset, and hurt by all of this though. You see magic had entered into Mellisa Ann's world and it couldn't be explained away so easily. She had older cousins, who had learned magic tricks and showed Mellisa Ann a whole other realm of existence she had not considered before. She fell in love with this, the idea of items vanishing before her eyes and reappearing somewhere else, or just never reappearing again at all. To be sent to another place or time through magic spells. This mixed with her Mothers bed time stories of fairy tales and folk lore, started the ball rolling for the very visually imaginative little child. Her fairies came in all different shapes and sizes and colors just like people do, plus now there were some she felt so close too they were on a first name basis. Mellisa Ann did say she could talk with her fairies as well. Not in a speaking way, but more of a telepathy through her mind they talked to her and her them into there minds. She did this every day for weeks while saying she was doing her chores outside watering plants and or feeding the chickens. Really she was always with her fairies this whole entire time, well news of this neglect of chores got back to Grandpa. He put his foot down about this whole fairies none sense, she was too old to believe such things any more and needed to learn some responsibilities rather than so much make believe. Her Dad came to her that afternoon and said, listen Mellisa Ann you are a big girl now you are over six years old. Going to school other kids will tease you and call you bad names, they might not even want to ever play with you and you will be left all alone. Your Mother meant well by sharing her stories, and so did your cousin with the magic tricks, but you can't think this is real it's just for fun and just a game it's not what big girls do anymore. He could see he was not getting through to her at all so be must take more drastic measures to make her see the truth. He took one of her so called fairies in his hands and said if this were a real fairy like you believe it to be, then it's magic would protect it from harm and I couldn't hurt it at all, right. Mellisa Ann was still pretending to ignore her Father's insults. When all of the sudden he slapped his hands around her fairy crushing it in his hands. Then he showed her it's lifeless body and said look it's nothing but what in known as the common no see om it's just a bug Melissa Ann and that's all it ever was or ever will be. At the sight of her Father doing this she panicked and screamed no!! You have killed her, your a murder! If you don't believe in there magic then and only then are you able to harm them, look what you have done you unbeliever!
