What it takes for Mellisa Ann's magic to begin to fad

Her Father could see this was a loosing battle for now, and just settled with the thought that's it's just a phase she's growing through.  This too would pass, this he explained to her Grandparents they still seemed worried however.  When friends of the family would visit they had to explain that no Mellisa Ann was not talking to her self out side but her invisible fairies that she thought to be real, and were her friends now.  This embarrassed her Grandparents and some other family members as well.  Her parents just thought it something very cute she would one day soon grow out of.  Yes, she did grow out of it but this came as a total shock and surprise to Mellisa Ann.  Who on the first day of there Spring weather had missed her tiny friends outside all winter long, yet when she went looking for them in there usual places they were no where to be found.  She had the sense somehow that they were there with her all around her waiting for her to see them again and "talk" with them.  Just as she had for the whole Spring and Summer season's the year before.  In a panicked voice she screamed to her Mother, there gone where are they now!!  Crying and sobbing now her heart breaking over the loss of her friends.  Her Mother looked at her with kind and understanding eyes and said sweetly, they are still here with you like they always have been and always will be.  You just see them with your grown up eyes now, and not those of an over imagining little child does.  Your magic fairies have grown with you into the real things now, the butterfly's, dragonfly's,  no see Em's, bumble bees.  They were always this way for all of us, that's just why it was so hard for us to understand you so much, we never got to see them as fairies like you could.  This is always the only way we could ever see them at all, this is how most all people have always seen them.  You were a gifted and special child to have been given this gift, that the rest of us only had the joy to share through your eyes alone.  It was wonderful while it lased my dear, but those days have passed now we must let your little friends go forever and say goodbye. Just be happy with your sweet memories of them my child. She shook her head and sadly said, I will never say goodbye, and one day they will come back through another child's eyes and then again I will share this magic with my kindred spirit and my long lost friends the fairies will welcome me back with open arms once more. Her Mother was speechless at this, but if it made her child feel better, so be it.
